INTRODUCTION
A. BACKGROUND
Al - washliyah means connecting, that connects a Muslim to the author, to the people and to the environment. Ternasuk human relations, solidarity memperkokoh al - ikhwah al - insaniyah (brotherhood), al - ikhwah al - wathoniyah (brotherhood and my fellow countrymen) and al-ukwah al-Islamiyah (brotherhood seakidah).       
However, today many did not know the short history of Al - Washliyah standing and role in the fight for the nation. Then from the author will discuss it in this paper.

DISCUSSION
A.AL-WASLIYAH STAND
Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah an Islamic organization w hich was born on 30 November 1930 and 9 Rajab 1349 H coincide in the city of Medan, North Sumatra. Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah better known as Al Washliyah born when the nation of Indonesia is still in the colonial Dutch East Indies (Indie Nederlandsh). So that the founders of Al Washliyah when it was partly fought against the Dutch colonialists. Not a few of the leaders of Al Washliyah the Dutch captured and thrown into prison.        
The main goal to establish Al Washliyah organization when it is to unite a people broken to pieces and different views. Divisions and differences is one of the Dutch strategy to keep power in the land of Indonesia. Therefore, the organization also helped Al Washliyah Indonesia gained independence with the people in Indonesian unity.
Dutch colonists who ruled the earth Indonesia continues to work for the Indonesian nation is not united, so that they continue to pit the people. Invaders all means do so that the people broken to pieces. Because if it is concerned that the Indonesian people united can fight pejajah Netherlands.
Efforts to divide the people continue to penetrate to the joints of the Islamic religion. Muslims at that time can be broken apart because of differences in terms of worship and branches of religion (furu'iyah). This condition continued tapered, until the Muslims are divided into two groups called by the old and the young. Disagreement in the field of religion is getting more and more sharp and to the point of unsettling. 
With disputes among Muslims in the city of Medan in North Sumatra in particular, those students studying at Maktab Islamiyah Tapanuli field seeks to reunite their divided people. Efforts to unite Muslims continue to do and eventually formed the organization Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah which means connecting Society. The point is to connect people with Allah Ta'ala. and connect people with people (fellow Muslims).
Misunderstandings between the old with the young people on the subject of worship. make the students studying at Maktab Islamiya madrassa Tapanuli (MIT) Field fret. The students have a student association called Debating Club (Society debate / discussion). In regular discussions in the society is often discussed about the problems that occur in the middle of the Muslims and one of the differences of opinion in the body of Muslims.
Discussions reached a peak in October 1930. Earlier that month a meeting was held at the residence of Yusuf Ahmad Lubis, on Jl. Glugur city of Medan. At a meeting led by Abdurrahman Shihab attended by Yusuf Ahmad Lubis, Nur Adnan, M. Isa and several other students. In the meeting it was agreed to increase the student associations that they have the Debating Club. To follow up on the meeting Yusuf Ahmad Lubis, hereinafter also held a second meeting in homes in Petisah Abdurrahman Shihab, the city of Medan, which was attended by Banda Ismail, Yusuf Ahmad Lubis, Nur Adnan, Abdul Wahab, and M. Isa. It was agreed at the meeting to invite scholars, gentlemen teachers and other students at a larger meeting planned for October 26, 1930 at Maktab Tapanuli Islamiyah (MIT) Medan.        
As planned, a larger meeting took place at MIT Medan. The meeting was attended by scholars, teachers, students and Muslim leaders in the city of Medan and surrounding areas. After long talks and deep enough, then all the participants when it agreed to form an association which aims to promote, and add tersyiarnya concerned with Islam. 
Field meeting at MIT is led by Ismail Banda as the oldest person at the time, and in the forum also presented an explanation of the form of organization to be established later. A description of the form of organization presented among others by Ismail Banda, M. Talib arsyad Lubis and H. Syamsudin.         

1.GIVE NAME OF ORGANIZATION
After it was agreed to form an association and to listen to an explanation of the form of organization to be formed, then the consent of the participants, sought to one teacher in Maktab Tapanuli Islamiyah (MIT) field is Syech H. Muhammad Yunus (a respected scholar) to give a suitable name for the association to be formed. Efforts asked to provide the name of a scholar considered politeness or good morals of a student to his teacher.  
Shaykh H. Muhammad Yunus attended by students does not necessarily answer that desire. First he did pray two rak'ahs and praying to Allah. After that he came to the disciples and said, "I think we call it the association with 'Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah'." The name sounds wonderful and feels a bit foreign in the ears of the students, and has not been heard before or similar to that. Instantly it all who hear sejutu, with the name Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah. Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah meaning is 'the Union is bound'.
1. Jama'ah Al Jam'iyah or imply association or associations.
2. Al Washliyah or Washolah means connecting.      
So that the meaning of Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah is Linking Association or the Association.To connecting between mankind by Almighty Allah as a creator. Connecting or collecting humans with other humans in order to unite and connect people with the natural surroundings. This is consistent with the meaning hablun-minallah wa hablun minannaas (Man's relationship with God and man's relationship with fellow human beings).          

2.OPENING AL WASHLIYAH
At the date of 30 November 1930 held at Maktab Tapanuli Islamiyah (MIT) located on Jl Medan. Hind Medan held back a larger meeting that gets the attention of people around the vast city of Medan.                      
At the meeting agreed on the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD / ART) as well as the first Al Washliyah stewardship. Since then resmilah Organization Al Washliyah stand. Chairman Al Washliyah first submitted to Banda Ismail because he was older than the other members. The composition of the board of Al Washliyah the first consisting of:

3.FOUNDERS AL WASHLIYAH
In the history of the struggle of Islam in North Sumatra the eve of independence, the founder of Al Washliyah are people who are very prominent in fighting for Islam, both in the field of education, propaganda, social charity and in politics. They are known to be hardworking, pious, have in-depth knowledge of Islam, has a sincerity and high morale and are willing to sacrifice the lives and property for the sake of Islam.   
The founders of Al Washliyah composed of students aged around 20-26 years. Although still young, the founders have high charisma in its environment. Diusiannya relatively young, they have agreed to establish an organization that became the bridge between the old to understand young people understand. As for including the founder of Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah are:

They are average students who are studying at Maktab Tapanuli Islamiyah (MIT) Medan. Their age when it was very young. Yet have the perspective that far ahead (Bashirah).
MIT students this field has a small association called the Debating Club (group discussion). Debating Club is led by a highly intelligent student who is Abdurrahman Shihab. In this small group is often talked about and discussed issues that are hot in the community, especially on the issue of religion. Debating Club is continuing active discussions that are increasingly widely involved in the discussions. And it began with little discussion the idea was born to establish a very large gathering. And finally born Al Washliyah organization.
        

MAKTAB TAPANULI  ISLAMIYAH (MIT) FIELD   
Maktab Tapanuli Islamiyah (MIT) Medan, North Sumatra is a silent witness to the birth of small madrasa Al Washliyah. This school can not be separated from the history of the founding of Al Washliyah. Because this is where Al Washliyah first inaugurated the dibidani by the school students.
In the 1930s, MIT Medan is the only Islamic school in the city of Medan, then do not be surprised if this school received considerable attention from the prosecution of science around the city of Medan, even from the corners of Indonesia and Malaysia.   
MIT Field madrassa located far from the hustle and bustle of the city of Medan, this Madrasah was right on the edge of the river Deli. Deli River is a river that divides the city of Medan. Simple Madrasah is surrounded by green trees and pretty cool and away from the bustle or noise or other vehicles. Under these conditions it is very convenient to students studying atMaktab it.

SYMBOL AL WASHLIYAH        
Al Washliyah organization emblem is the crescent moon five-star, five in the bud shield, inscribed الجمعية الوصلية (Arabic / sulus) white and green base.

SYMBOL MEANING AL WASHLIYAH
1. Moon Rising
Meaning:
  Hinted that another full moon shining highway in the natural world, which is a warning to all the worlds that Islam will evolve meratai throughout nature.
"It is God who made the sun shine and the moon shining." (Al-Qur'an)
2. Five Stars Unite
Meaning:
As light is a joint truth of Islam with the five pillars of Islam. Particularly the five daily prayers, as a solid foundation for the spiritual and physical illuminates fulfill the Divine command to achieve the glory in the world and in the hereafter.
"And will be a sign, and the stars that they got the hint." (Al-Qur'an)
3. Color White
Meaning:
Faith of the believers as the rising moonlight. Color light emitting bright light. If the light is embossed with the radiance despite the rain and the clouds and harsh winds, the light will not disappear. He will continue to shine up until the final moment.
4. Basic Color Green
Meaning:
Every believer's heart shall be holy, spiritual, physical and attitude. And gentle in achieving glory and eternal peace on this earth.
"Are you not see that Allah has lowered the water from the sky, then the earth be green. Allah is merciful exceedingly knowing (mengkabarkan). "(Al-Qur'an)
5. Moon and Star Light
Meaning:
Islam and the Muslims as guidelines and safety instructions in the seafaring with a gentle way. Wherever the light can not be protected and covered anything. Like water, it will run meratai earth, gradually he will meratai earth entirely. 
"Allah is He who has made for you so that you will be a star in the darkness instructions on land and at sea. Surely We revealed some signs for a people who understand. "(Al Quran).

Leadership level in the organizational structure of Al Washliyah are as follows:

ORGANIZATION PART AL WASHLIYAH
Al Washliyah is the umbrella organization that has some autonomous organization or part of an organization called Al Washliyah. This part of the organization under the supervision and guidance of Chairman Al Washliyah level and seazas and approval by Al Washliyah.       
Al Washliyah currently has a seven-part organization that still exists. Organization of this section is divided according to each of his cultivated fields so that there is no overlap program. The section consists of seven organizations:
1. Organization for the women or mothers with Moslem names Al Washliyah.
2. Youth organization by the name of Al Washliyah Youth Movement in brief GPA.
3. Puteri organization by the name of Princess Al Washliyah Force on APA brief.
4. Student organizations / Teens with Putera-Puteri Association name Al Washliyah in brief IPA.
5. Student organizations with the name of the Student Association Al Washliyah in short himmah.
6. Bachelor organization by the name of Al Washliyah Scholars Association in brief ISARAH.
7. Teacher organizations with the name of the Association of Teachers Al Washliyah in short IGA.
          
Each organization has a part of it as the central leadership and the highest level of leadership to the leadership of twigs as the lowest level. Al Washliyah in Congress, all organs that participate also held a conference. However, for internal, each holding its own Muyawarah.

Al-jam `iyatul Washliyah (Al Washliyah) is an organization for charitable, because this organization has three main programs: education, social and proselytizing. It was made Chairman PB Al Washliyah, H.Lukman Judge Hasibuan on opening deliberations region (muswil) with 5 Organ Part Al Washliyah DKI, Jakarta, Wednesday (29/6). 
According to Lukman, Al Washliyah is a container for charity. Lukman remind PW Al Washliyah city ranks along with Organ bagiannnya, to regain its footing in DKI Jakarta. Continue to do good for Muslims. Expand educational institutions, social and proselytizing in the midst of the people. Because the organization Al Washliyah already 81 years old.
